Santa Stack Pencil Santa Carving #688

Carved from a single piece of 1.5" wide x 2" thick Pennsylvania Basswood, this pencil Santa carving stands approximately 10" tall. 

The bottom Santa features an old world wine red coat with decorative front trim.  His hat is being mashed down by the weight he supports and his pom pom hangs partly across his face.  His hunter green gloves hold tightly to the Santa above him.

The middle Santa has a burgundy coat with antique white trim.  He managed to get his hat to flop backwards, and the pom pom hangs halfway down his back.  His blue gloves are busy holding up Santa #3.

The top Santa features a muted Christmas Red coat with simple white trim.  His comical little expression provides the impression he is unaware of the struggles by those beneath him.

With plenty of features, this carving really draws the eye .  Tom first starting carving Santa stacks four or five or ten years ago, but he doesn't carve many due to the extra time involved.  This is the only triple stack he will carve in 2009.

Note: Colors in picture are brighter than the actual carving... which features muted tones thanks to the antiquing.
