Wine Barrel Carving Gallery #10

Hand Carved Wine Barrel Heads - Wine Art Gallery.
Deer Meadow Winery - Close Up of Detail
Because the barrel was so old, the oak surface was rough. Tom did extremely shallow outlines of the lettering because it was so thin. A deeper cut may have weakened the oak and caused pieces to break off. The deer background was textured by hand punching the background. You can see this best directly beneath the deer's neck. Stain was used on the deer, thinned paint to allow the wood's grain to show through was used on the rectangle and 23kt. Genuine Gold Leaf was used on the lettering and diamond.
